Mid-Cabin Express Cruisers

Mid-cabin express cruisers are simply bigger versions of the pocket or mini-cruiser and generally of nine foot or greater beam (right up to even fifteen feet wide in the biggest versions) and usually with twin (or more) sterndrive or inboard V-drive power, or in the most recent iterations, gasoline or diesel pod drives.

By far the most popular design of cruising boat since the 1980’s, today’s manufacturers are offering these models up to even sixty or more feet in length with three or more sleeping cabins below. And as the length and beam increases, so does cockpit seating and entertainment capabilities plus on-board amenities to provide “all the luxuries of home” to allow longer uninterrupted stays out on the water away from shore facilities. Such amenities usually include an on-board generator for AC power plus self-contained battery charging, full electric galley conveniences such as refrigerators, freezers, stoves, microwave ovens, coffee makers, even dishwashers in the largest examples, plus full entertainment electronics, plus separate shower stalls, even washer/dryers, etc. etc. Recent mid-cabin cruiser design innovations have replaced canvas bimini tops over the helm area with hardtops with or without opening sunroof sections. Even rear canvas cockpit enclosures are being replaced with opening glass partitions. Additional or even replacement dinette and galley facilities are becoming more popular within this cockpit area as opposed to being located within the cabin area below. Diesel power is usually found in those models over forty feet in length.
